Jan Steyer is the artistic director of the Czech Technical University Choir, one of the largest choral ensembles in Prague, and also a choirmaster of the Prague Mixed Choir. As guest conductor he cooperates with many amateur and professional musical ensembles (The North Czech Philharmonic Teplice, Music of the Castle Guard and Police of the Czech Republic, Smíchov Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra). Pedagogically he has been a music lecturer at New York University (teaching vocal ensembles) and he is regularly invited to various master classes where he teaches organ improvisation and conducting. He also teaches conducting at the Pedagogical Faculty of Charles University and he is a member of juries of many international choir and conducting competitions. Jan Steyer is the organist of the Charles University and, as an organist, also regularly cooperates with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. He has contributed to many CDs, as an artist and as a music director, and also records for Czech Radio and Czech Television. He has performed in most European countries, repeatedly in Japan, Russia, Egypt, China and Canada.
