Miroslav Smrčka comes from a musical family. He learned the trumpet from the age of eight under the guidance of his father. He graduated from the Prague Conservatory in the class of Prof. Miroslav Keymar. In 2012 he completed his master’s studies at HAMU. In November 2003 he won the first prize at the Competition of Conservatories in Ostrava and also the award for the best performance of a compulsory composition. In 2011 he was a finalist of Onlybrass in Antwerp. He has performed solo with the International Student Orchestra in Wangen, the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra and the Roxy Orchestra. He has performed with the National Theatre Drama Orchestra and the Berg Chamber Orchestra. He has long collaborated with organist Přemysl Kšica. He is a member of the KVintet brass quintet. Since 2016 he has been the 1st trumpet player of the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra.
