Roman Janál, a native of Trenčín is a past member of the regular corps of the National Theatre Opera and remains its welcome guest. He is a graduate of Plzeň Conservatory in the field of violin and of Prague’s Academy of Performing Arts as well as the Musical Academy of Sofia in the field of voice. Before taking his present position as a regular soloist with the Prague’s National Theatre and the ensemble Virtuosi di Praga, he passed through opera houses of Banská Bystrica and Plzeň as well as State Opera. In 1995, he won first prize in the thirtieth annual Antonín Dvořák international competition in Karlovy Vary and became a voice teacher at the Prague Conservatory. He is also a sought-after performer of concert and song repertoire both on concert stages and the studios of Czech Radio.
