Grau Petr

Flutist Petr Grau is a graduate of the flute class led by Professor Alena Křiklánová at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague. Already during his studies, he actively engaged in chamber music of various genres and styles.

In his rich concert activity, you can find performances of compositions ranging from the Baroque to contemporary music. For several years, he was a member of the Ensemble Bona Fide, a group that, in its unconventional lineup – flute, soprano saxophone, baritone saxophone, and harpsichord – specialized in performing Baroque music. A separate chapter in his career is his interest in interpreting the music of Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla, particularly within the ensemble Bona Fide Tango. With this quintet, he recorded the CD “Misterio del Angel” and collaborated on radio productions for Radiotéka, featuring the renowned Czech singer Soňa Červená.

From 1999 to 2009, he collaborated externally with the orchestra of the National Theatre Opera, contributing to performances of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute.” He also participated as an interpreter in the adaptation of the same opera at the Dejvické divadlo. Thanks to his initiative, the flute quartet Flautus Vocis was formed, where he contributes to the repertoire as an arranger. For many years, he performed at the International Festival of Melodrama, participating in the performance of works by significant Czech composers.

Petr Grau has recordings in Czech Radio and television and has performed in several European countries, as well as in Japan and Brazil. Currently, he also serves as a professor of flute at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague.
